Party Appointments Announced

Chairman Betras names four to important party posts

Chairman David Betras announced today that he has appointed four activists to key positions in the Mahoning County Democratic Party.  Effective immediately John Vivo will serve as the organization's Executive Director, Lyndsey Hughes will assume the post of Communications Director, Brandon Kovach will become Field Director and Director of Volunteer Services, and Bev Reyes will direct the MCDP's voter information and database project.

Councilman Patrick elected Democratic District Leader for Struthers and Lowellville

Struthers Councilman-at-large Michael Patrick was unanimously elected Mahoning County Democratic Party District Leader for Struthers and Lowellville during a meeting of the central committee members who represent the two communities held at Dona Vito's Italian Grille on Thursday, June 18, 2009. Mr. Patrick also serves as the committee person for Struthers Precinct 4-D. Joyce Kale Pesta, assistant director of the Mahoning County Board of Elections, conducted the meeting.

Restraining order in place against casino backers

Restraining order against casino backers' deceptive practices to stand until July 3, Betras warns citizens to be wary of petition fraud

Mahoning County Democratic Party Chair David Betras, Mahoning County Commissioner John McNally and attorneys representing the Ohio Jobs and Growth Committee have agreed that a temporary restraining order (TRO) issued against the backers of the casino gambling scheme should remain in place until July 3. The lawsuit filed against the Committee on behalf of the Mahoning County Democratic Party will be voluntarily dismissed at that time.
